"i'm not african because i was born in africa, but because africa was born in me."

Compassion OVER ambition

With a scarcity mindset, progress means increasing your slice of the pie.  A gain which always comes at the expense of someone else. At ihelpu we  believe in abundance, and our aim is to rather grow the size of the pie.

We might be unique now, but we hope it doesn't last

Data

Knowledge is power and today knowledge is vested in the data we collect - 2,5 quintillion bytes of it every single day, and counting. Rather than using that power to fill the pockets of a few, ihelpu democratises it to benefit all people. Data is the only tool available today that can scale over a relatively short period of time, to address the magnitude of our social challenges. Data will set us free.

Excellence

Excellence is not just about being the best at what you do, it is also about being the best you. Not just about being good at what you do, but also about doing good. At ihelpu we are moulding the best talent this continent has ever seen, and we are maturing them to become compassionate human beings. Every member of ihelpu carries with them not only the responsibility to make ihelpu successful, but also to make the world a better place for all.

Ownership

ihelpu lives in the veins of its people. Every person that works at ihelpu becomes part owner of the company. As a result they all have a vested interest in the success of ihelpu. When you engage with an employee of ihelpu, you are also engaging with an owner of the company. Every employee is encouraged to act like an entrepreneur, to share ideas, to accept failure as part of learning and to believe in themselves.

Youth

Young is not better, but the young are energised and available and hungry and caring and informed and involved. The young have mastered tools that allow them to do in a day what previous generations could not accomplish in a year. We are not rectifying the past, we are building a future and for that we do not need excuses for our wrongs and reasons for our failures. We need ideas and the endurance to keep on trying through challenges and hardships. Our youth is an untapped treasure of riches and we are about to shape them into invaluable gemstones.

Africa

Our history might have been written by others but we will be the architects of our future. Others looked at our natural resources and exploited it, but in doing so they missed out on the greatest opportunity of all - the African people. Africans are rising for Africa and there is nothing that will match the potential they unlock.

Ubuntu

There is nothing more African than ubuntu and there is noting more ubuntu than Africa. ihelpu lives it, depends on it and spreads it. ihelpu is, because the the people of Africa are. The future of ihelpu and the future of Africa is woven together as one and the success of one without the prosperity of the other is not only unthinkable, but impossible within the spirit of ubuntu.
